Ostern in Johannesburg – Fairland

Als ehemaliges Gemeindeglied der St. Paulusgemeinde (FELSISA) zu Fairland, Johannesburg, Südafrika, erhält der Missionsdirektor den Gemeindebrief. Darin war folgender Bericht zu lesen:

We had a wonderful Easter Sunrise Celebration this year. Although the weather on Saturday was overcast and no sun visible, it changed on Easter Sunday. The rising sun reminded us of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. As sure as the sun is there and shining on us every day, so our Lord is also there every day as we walk our lives as Christians on this earth. Pastor Georg Mabe from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Diepkloof / Soweto and about 50 members of that congregation joined us
for this service at Fairland Koppie. Some visitors were also present so that we were about 150 people altogether. Heidi Müller had her hands full to supply breakfast for all the people. We thank everybody who joined in to help her with this task. We were grateful to find that the Diepkloof congre- gation brought along scones and biscuits. This resulted in having enough food to feed everybody and there were also some left-overs. The Diepkloof congregation also sang some chorals during breakfast that was appreciated by all people present.

Gottesdienste, in denen weiße und schwarze Menschen wie selbstverständlich zusammenkommen, das hätte man sich zwischen 1948 und 1996 kaum vorstellen können (es hat aber solche Gottesdienste immer auch gegeben!). Um so schöner, dass es heutzutage fast selbstverständlich scheint.
